Transforming Productivity in Telecommunications with AI

Abstract:
Telecommunications provides infrastructure and services which underpin our increasingly digital society. This delivers resilient connectivity enabling communication across a myriad of devices, services and applications. Central to the delivery of network services are the management systems which oversee the delivery of connectivity services. They optimise the networks and field teams that operate the business, they automate the processes that maintain, build and secure the networks, they support telco decision-making at business, service and operational levels. AI is transforming these systems, driving automation and offering an opportunity to realise a step-change in productivity. This presentation will illustrate how different generations of AI are transforming telecommunications management systems. It will outline the practicalities of embedding AI capabilities in large complex telecommunications organisations and the productivity challenge. It will highlight the need for all telcos to become AI-ready. Finally, it will look ahead to how this transformational technology will continue to shape the industry and the role of applied research in realising the next generation of AI solutions.
