Internet security is one game everybody wants to play, and in a game with so many players, there are bound to be winners and losers. The winners in this internet game of unequal halves are hackers who are always a step or two ahead of users and system security vendors. Security deals with tools and techniques required to make an environment safe. However, the multiplicity of vendor software and security tools makes things very daunting for the common users. Trust - the workings of security tools - is one weapon users need on their side to fight against hackers’ threats. This presentation looks at the security implications of users “trust” in a social networked environment.
